Am behind in reading The AC-T but I see you are still talking about the secular approach. You said if one makes no reference to God, he is keeping the Third Commandment which is not taking the Lord's name in vain. But Jesus says, quoting from the Torah, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment, The second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend the whole Law..." So a person is not keeping any part of the Law by ignoring God.

In your introduction piece you said : "It turns out that Western colonialism was often a major hindrance to the spread of Christianity". I look at it differently. Western colonialism brought Christianity to the various countries/area's they occupied. The colonials built churches and set up government according to their Christian values and culture. Why do you call it a 'hindrance'?

Very interesting website. I finished my studies in missiology years ago, but this revives my interest. As a minister in a small town in the netherlands where secularisation hits pretty fast, communication with the small muslimcommunity comes up and many more elitist christians say they understand christianity better via buddhism, I am very interested in similar and different evolutions. Mine is a practical perspective so I hope to visit and learn! yours, Corien Veenhuizen

I only recently became aware of your book on sociology of missions and did a Google search to find your site today. I am a graduate student in intercultural studies and missions, working in the area of alternative spiritualities in the West. I look forward to incorporating more of social missiology into my work in religious studies and missiology.
